The City of Clermont was founded in 1884 and was incorporated in 1916. It is home to the Florida Citrus Tower, which is one of the first constructed landmarks of Florida. In 2006, the city celebrated the 50th anniversary of the tower. Clermont is 23 miles W of Orlando, Florida.
Downtown Clermont has restaurants, shops, the local Art League, Clermont City Center, and City Hall. The downtown’s western area, known as Historic Village, includes sites such as the Townsend House, home to James and Sallie Townsend, the first African-American couple in Clermont. The Historic Village is maintained by the South Lake County Historical Society and the City of Clermont.
Clermont is home to The United States Triathlon National Training Center. Duathlons, Triathlons, and cross-country races are held at the facility. Waterfront Park is located along Lake Minneola. The Park includes picnic areas, a swimming area, fishing piers, and a playground. In addition, there are rentals for paddleboards, kayaks, and bicycles. A fitness trail that is part of a 30-mile system runs through the park.

Minneola, Florida, is located 22 miles west of Orlando, Florida. Highway 27 intersects our city, thus providing a major corridor and convenient access to several bordering cities. With a major metropolitan area, an international airport, and major tourist attractions only a short distance away, Minneola has much to offer. It provides a country setting with the convenience of the big city. In addition, central Florida’s mild winters contribute to Minneola’s appeal, making it a very desirable place to reside.
Attractions include The Presidents Hall of Fame, The Winter Garden Heritage Museum, and The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens are all accessible from Minneola. The Dade Battlefield State Historic Site preserves the history of the Dade massacre, which occurred during the Second Seminole War. Local parks include Lake Griffin State Park, Lake Louisa State Park, and Palatlakha Park. There are opportunities for swimming, fishing, and canoeing at Lake Louisa State Park.
Nearby colleges and universities include the Lake-Sumter Community College, Rollins College, Valencia Community College, and Seminole Community College. With 51% of the residents being married, great restaurants, and suburban living, Minneola, a great place to live!
